How well do we know each other’s musical tastes?
How well do you think you know ours? Maybe it’s too soon to tell.
This week we try to predict what song the other person has in their music library that is also in our own. And if that’s not complicated enough, here’s the catch: the other person is supposed to like the song a lot more because it’s supposed to be more up their alley.
If all this sounds convoluted that’s because it is! But would you expect anything typical from us?
Long story short, Christine was so proud of herself when she predicted that Sam Evian’s “Jacket” would be on regular rotation in Christina’s life. She was certain.
Though it was released in 2024, Jacket is giving some serious 70s vibes, which by now it should be apparent that Christina loves. But alas, not a single Evian song to be found in her library. WHAT?!
Did Christina do any better with her prediction?
No, and maybe yes. Christina’s prediction for Christine, Reyna Tropical’s “No Me Quieres” from 2018, had all the components of a CZP hit: sung in Spanish, dreamy and sad, but also fun.
And yet, Christine had never even heard of Reyna Tropical.
HOWEVER, the song is now a regular in her rotation. Though this technically may be a win for Christina, Christine feels triumphant to have a new song to love!
Speaking of winners, the Boz Metzdorf song “Sails Across the Sea” is what inspired the theme if not the whole game. And Drugdealer’s “End of Comedy” is just a dreamy track you might enjoy.
As promised, here’s some bonus fun: Liner Notes Debate on the Vintage Obscura Reddit.
