The year is (almost) over! We are delighted. However, it’s been quite an eventful year for the podcast hosts as we spent a whole year sharing songs, stories, and musical notes (see what we did there?) with our beautiful listeners. Truly, we are thankful you have joined us on this journey! We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for the podcast. BUT, before we jump the gun, let us share our favorite bands of the year!
Christina selected this theme, not because of Sp**ify and their obsession with counting the minutes you stream, but because for her, there was one band she just kept playing all year long. Being Dead! These cool kids from Austin wowed her when she saw them for the first time at the Holiday Hootenanny in Dec. 2024. And then again when she saw them in Houston opening for Shannon and the Clams. But it’s their albums and chaotic music videos that secured her love for them. Indeed, they were her top band on Sp**ify Wrapped for 2025, and it’s likely she’ll keep cranking their tunes well into 2026 (and beyond?!). So while she encourages you to listen to all their tracks, she shared Van Goes on the show for your listening pleasure.
Christine did not disappoint with her favorite band of 2025. And you might have guessed who it was based on the 1,254 minutes she spent talking about them on the podcast, on the phone, at the water cooler, and in her sleep. Folks, it’s none other than DEVO! 2025 was Christine’s Devo reawakening (or, perhaps, her awakening?). After being gifted a Devo song on a mixtape many moons ago, she rediscovered her love for them by watching the Devo documentary… and more importantly, by seeing their show at the Hollywood Bowl this year. All year long she’s had an uncontrollable urge to listen to MORE DEVO! And we can’t blame her. The band’s humor, awareness, originality, and capability to capture the human condition is unparalleled, and they kick ass while delivering some of the wittiest jams you’ve ever heard.
The year might be over (almost) but the fun lives on.
