What makes a perfect road trip song? That depends on countless factors and combinations, it’s really its own sort of equation. Who’s riding with you? Are you driving (and are you a good driver)? Is this a fun trip? Did you pack the snacks? Do you know what a Buc-ee’s is? And while we don’t go through all the possibilities, we do talk about a couple of our favorite tracks for trippin’ this week.
Queen Christine selected the theme because she was just really excited to share this Ana Tijoux song (perhaps because of how well it worked in Breaking Bad’s “road trip” scene?). The song, 1977, is from her album by the same name which was released in 2010. It’s also a song Christine’s practiced learning the lyrics to on her own road trips, and now she wants to share it with you! Perhaps the perfect pick for a future road trip…. you tell us!
Christina had a very specific road trip in mind when she selected her “trippin'” song: 2007. Road trippin’ home from Galveston Beach with her friends Meggie and Matt. Riding high on being 19 and carefree. Blasting Steely Dan’s “Reelin’ in the Years.” You can just picture it in your head, can’t you? Perhaps if you cannot, you need to get out there and feel the ocean breeze in your hair! A little Yacht Rock never hurt anyone!
As always, we LOVE participation from our listeners. Have a favorite road trip song? Share it in the comments on our Instagram! And be safe out there. If music while driving isn’t your thing (wild!!!) maybe put on our podcast? We’ll do our best not to bore you!
