Shorties. Not Shawty-s. But that’s fun, too. Let’s keep it brief, and get to the point eh?
Shortest songs don’t always yield the shortest episodes, but they do pack a punch! And while this isn’t technically our shortest episode, it does come in second, after our SECOND episode Pump Up Songs.
Christine selected this theme and had an excellent explanation for the rules: the shortest song in your music library that you actually enjoy listening to… NOT as part of an intro, interlude, or outro. GOT IT? She sure does. But does she challenge her own rules? You tell us. Christine’s selection is Rosalía singing “¡Ay, Paquita!” in the Season 2 opening theme for the Spanish mockumentary Netflix series “Paquita Salas.” Clocking in at 52 seconds, I would indeed agree this short song packs a punch! You might even find yourself singing it out loud throughout the day. Christina does.
Christina pushed Christine’s limits by picking a song that’s over a minute long. But isn’t any song under two minutes a shorty? Roger Miller’s “Dang Me” from his 1964 album Roger and Out ticks all the boxes for Christina: short, punchy, silly, sing-able. And only a minute and 48 seconds long. Boom! Get ’em, Roger.
And if we might offer you some unsolicited advice? Download the CloudSpotter App! Maybe one day you’ll love clouds so much you join the Cloud Appreciation Society. You’ll be in good company, and no one can poke fun at you for having your head in the clouds.
We hope you enjoy the brevity and levity, and please share your favorite shorties on Instagram.
