Atypical Earworm

Ever have a song that gets stuck in your head… and you might try all the tricks to get it out of your head and you’re still stuck humming (or singing!?) wide awake at 3 a.m. We’ve been there! And this week we’re talking about the music we don’t mind getting stuck in our heads! And, as you can probably guess, these tunes aren’t your… typical earworms!

Christine selected this theme and even gave us a German and history lesson about the word’s origins. Her song of choice was “Fake ID” by Riton & Kah-Lo for its get in your head qualities that even Selena Gomez loves. Let’s see if this one worms its way in for you.

Christina’s atypical earworm got in her head after she saw Shannon and the Clams perform in April 2025 and couldn’t stop singing “What You’re Missing” for weeks on end. Even though their album The Moon is in the Wrong Place is about grief and loss, there’s something so catchy to some of these tunes that you just might find yourself singing them over and over.

Can you believe we made it through this episode without mentioning RFK one time!? What a talent. If you’d like to share a song that wormed its way into your brain with us, please do! Just head over to our Instagram and comment on the post dedicated to this episode! We’d love to know.
