Christine selected this theme as a revisitation of last year’s summer songs episode to see where our musical journey has brought us in 2026. But before she got to her pick, she did a deep dive into Pitchfork’s contenders for summer song of 2026… and we have to say… are we getting too old for Pitchfork!? We don’t get this list! Although Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations” was a delightful surprise. Christine’s ACTUAL summer song is Peki Momés’s Yildiz (Estrelar), a cover of Marcos Valle’s “Estrelar” with the perfect amount of languidness to make it an excellent estival anthem.
Christina, on the other hand, is having a bummer summer. You know, one of those non-brat summers when you feel like… doing nothing. Or wallowing. Or just not going to a pool party. As such, she picked Ohtis and Stef Chura’s “Schatze” so she can go fully into a weirdo trance and repeatedly say “fuck you very much, sir,” to anything that displeases her. And be sure to watch the video, it’s a hoot.
