City Pulse

What’s the heartbeat of a city? It might be the song that makes you feel like you’re living within its very chambers. Join us on the journey through the pulsing heart of NYC and Los Angeles on this week’s episode!

Christina picked this theme, hot off a visit to New York City. While riding the subway, she felt the urge to play some music. But not just any song. No. It had to be “I Feel Love” by Donna Summer. The steady pulse, the futuristic sound, the literal beating heart of the rhythm. It was the perfect song for riding the subway and wandering NYC’s bustling streets.

Christine finally came to her senses and picked a song that made Christina proud: “Tryouts for the Human Race” by Sparks from their 1979 album “No. 1 in Heaven.” Was it an accident that this masterpiece was also produced by legend Giorgio Moroder? No, no it isn’t. He’s the king of Disco and the key to a super funky electronic jam. And this city pulse song is Christine’s tune for walking in LA (there are two music puns in there and I’ll Venmo you $5 if you get them both).
