Memorable melodies. A theatrical flair. A note only a Broadway star could hold. It’s showtime, baby! This week we’re puttin’ on the ritz and singing along to our favorite showtunes. Join us in the chorus line, won’t you?
Christine picked this week’s theme with Christina in mind, knowing how much she loves a good musical. But in preparing for the episode (SIRI PLAY A SHOWTUNE!), she rediscovered her childhood affinity for those songs that accompanied a sweet memory from the silver screen. The song that she can’t help but belt out is “Big Spender” from Sweet Charity, the 1969 American musical comedy-drama directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse. As a child it drew her in and made her wonder… what IS “sordified”? The world may never know.
Christina, a sometimes musical lover and big time musical singer, couldn’t decide which ALW song to choose (obviously too many in Phantom to pick just one) so she went with “Memory” from the Broadway smash hit Cats. Her sad song that wins over the audience, sealing Grizabella’s fate as the cat selected to reborn! Weird storyline, huh? If you think the “old” Cats might be too weird for you, we highly recommend you check out the Cats remix, “Cats: the Jellicle Ball,” for a super fresh take on a classic! If anyone from their PR team is curious, yes we will fly out and sit front row!
We would DIE to know what your musical singalong song is! Share it in the comments on our Instagram page, won’t you?
