Introductions

Forget “please allow me to introduce myself” or “my name is….” What if your introduction were a song, or a mesmerizing opening credit sequence, or maybe even a reference you can’t stop thinking about? This episode is about the art of introduction through music, because before a single word is spoken, music can tell us exactly who we’re meeting and what kind of world we’re about to enter.

Christine had just the introduction in mind when choosing this theme: “Jaan Pechaan Ho” sung by Mohammed Rafi as the opening sequence of the 2001 movie “Ghost World.” This opening scene had such an impact on her that she remembered its brilliance 25 years later (and we have to give a shout-out to friend and listener Ognjen for adding it to our Get Up and Dance playlist!).

Christina went along with a musical intro of a kids’ TV show, but one she loved when she was just finding out what “cool” was: “Hey Sandy,” by Polaris, which served as the theme song to the Nickelodeon show “The Adventures of Pete and Pete.” It doesn’t even matter that Polaris is a made up band just for this show, they rocked! And they provided a soundtrack for young aspiring cool kids everywhere.

You know what would be really cool? If you used this opportunity to introduce this podcast to a friend. No pressure! You could also just check out our Instagram and share your favorite musical introduction on there.

And friends? It’s really important that we share this with you… you can’t skip lunch.
