Kids

They’re not all creepy! And sometimes they actually make a great song greater, or a bad song better. Biases aside, in this episode we celebrate the contributions of children to music history.

Christine chose this theme with a song that transcended praise music and made its way to the club scene: “Stand on the Word,” by the Joubert Singers. Recorded in 1982 by the Joubert Singers, a children’s choir who were originally known as the Celestial Choir, this song made its way to New York and New Jersey nightclubs, proving that kids singing about God… can be a bop? You tell us!

Christina, ever the contrarian, picked something that ended up rattling Christine’s nerves: “Screamin’ Demon” from Human Skab. Sweet and melodic? NO. Insane and exciting? HELL YES. Kids are weird, y’all. And in 1986 Travis had a message for the world: It’s not just playin’ guitars good that is important. It’s all the things that you do.” Amen.
