Have you ever been on hold and all of a sudden you find yourself dancing to the sweet, sweet hold music? Or maybe a friend sends you a song saying, “Hey, I think you might like this!” And even though you don’t think you will… you do? Well, welcome to the unexpected jams episode! We’re going to dive into some weird places where the music is unexpected and yet still hits.
Christina, an insane person, selected this theme with a song in mind: that very particular hold music from 1989 that’s won the hearts of millions: “Opus No. 1” by Tim Carleton. Picture it: you’re sitting in your office. You’ve just been put on hold for the umpteenth time this week. But this time… you’re not sorry to hear the hold music. Maybe you even want to STAY on hold! Better than talking to Linda in Accounts Receivable.
Christine went in a different direction. She leaned into her cautious optimism when her friend shared the song “Shuggie” by Foxygen with her and boy did it deliver. A new, unexpected jam was added to the music library, along with a curiosity (if not appreciation) for indie music.
